Benztropine for hyperhidrosis associated with venlafaxine use

The antidepressant venlafaxine, an inhibitor of both serotonin and norepinephrine reuptake, has been reported to cause excessive sweating in 12% of patients.[39] A woman who had severe, socially disabling generalized hyperhidrosis on venlafaxine responded to use of the anticholinergic benztropine 0.5 mg twice a day. A search of the medical literature using PubMed, however, found no further recent published reports of Benztropine in the treatment of hyperhidrosis.
