Top 20 Ways to Improve Hyperhidrosis Health in the New Year
With end-of-year reflections stimulating our coming New Year's resolutions, we've come up with a list of 20 simple things you can do to make a big difference in the life of a person with excessive sweating, be it you or someone you love or treat. Read on!
1. Buy and Sell in our eBay Giving Works auction. We know that we have an extremely diverse and wide-ranging membership in our subscriber database: We'd love to see what you can offer to raise money for the IHHS. Donate your services, your creativity, your property, your old baseball cards, or anything to do with hyperhidrosis management.
2. Donations. They are the tried and true way to have a direct impact on the IHHS and all we do. Large or small, donations add up. If everyone reading this newsletter gave just $6 to the IHHS, we would not need any corporate donations to support the newsletter. That's only one dollar for each edition!
3. Include your company or organization in your donation: request that they match your donation.
4. Update your email address to ensure that it is current.
5. Participate in the surveys on our home page and in emails that we send from time to time. Participating in this way can really have an impact: marketers and product developers pay attention to big numbers. Adding your voice to the chorus adds emphasis to the need for products and treatments that serve the hyperhidrosis population. The IHHS knows that the number of people with hyperhidrosis is large; we want these folks to know it too.
6. Use our Physician Finder to find doctors and healthcare providers who are familiar with treating hyperhidrosis. Make this the year you find a doctor who treats hyperhidrosis.
7. Send us feedback about the doctors you see—especially if they are great! If they are not listed in our Physician Finder, encourage them to register so others can find them.
8. Tell your school nurse about the IHHS. During the school years, children and teens may interact more with their school nurse than any other healthcare provider. School nurses can be a great resource for a child who's experiencing the difficulties inherent to hyperhidrosis in the school environment. Why not hand-deliver our teen book to your school nurse?
9. Participate in a clinical trial.
10. Include Sweat.Solutions.org on your approved senders list. Go to your inbox; use the address from which the newsletter was delivered.
11. READ our newsletter stories! We bring you the latest developments in treatment, updates about the IHHS's continuing medical education seminars, and stories about people living with excessive sweating.
12. Support our sponsors by clicking on our links and purchasing sponsored hyperhidrosis products. Let companies know how important it is that they are supporting us.
13. Healthcare professionals: Take advantage of the range of materials and resources we offer; request materials for your office here.
14. Healthcare professionals: Update your Physician Finder profile and make sure it's perfect! And if you're not registered—do it today! Patients are waiting to see you.
15. Healthcare professionals: Attend one of our CMEs! They offer a perfect opportunity to get your hyperhidrosis treatment skills into top form.
16. Try new products and send us a review at info@SweatHelp.org. You can also add product reviews to our eBay Giving Works page.
17. Know someone with hyperhidrosis who is fighting their battle against excessive sweating alone? Let them know that we're out here. A little information could change someone's life.
18. Become a fan on our Facebook page. Or, post us to one of the many other Web sharing options. We want our members to be able to seek each other out, share information, product reviews, or simply a compassionate pen pal.
19. If you know someone who suffers with hyperhidrosis, like a family member or friend, sign them up to receive our newsletter. Ask your doctor or healthcare provider to consider subscribing: the more they know, the better it is for all people with excessive sweating.
20. Be vocal! Talk to your doctor; talk to your insurance company; talk to your parents. Let it be known that hyperhidrosis is a real medical condition that can and should be treated.
